True Interoperability with Open Standards and Open Technology
Open Source tools to allow for a slow but steady revolution in healthcare. How? By providing free of cost quality tools for patient care and practice management. There are existing standards for interoperability that are generally ignored by the major vendors since there is little or no incentive for using them. HL7 v3 CDA with FHIR is the standard. A patient record should be completely portable across systems, much in the same way that a person’s financial transactions occur seamlessly across established financial systems. Open Medicine Today will highlight the new tools and the organizations using these open source efforts and standards-based software contributing to worldwide health and wellness efforts.
